How do I rent a space?

  • During operational hours, the Classroom (with included Back Patio) is available for private rentals.

    What else should I know?

    • Hourly Rate: $25

    • Hourly rate for non-profits: $20

    • Volunteer rate: $15

    • Minimum 2 hour booking required

    • Maximum number of attendees: 20 (anything more requires Whole Library Rental)

    • 1 week notice required

    • Exceptions considered on a case-to-case basis

  • The whole library may be rented for private events during normal operating hours with FCL approval.

    All rentals with over 20 expected attendees are automatically considered Whole Library Rentals.

    Certain types of rentals may automatically require a Whole Library Rental. For example, anyone wishing to rent the lounge for a movie screening or use a projector would need to place a whole library rental outside of operational hours.

When can I rent a space?

We request a week’s notice but we can make exceptions on a case-by-case basis. See our calendar below to see current availability and submit your rental request today!

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! Nonprofits and our volunteers can rent our spaces at discounted rates. Refer to the table above for current rates.

We may waive your rental fees if the booking request falls under our Library Programming criteria.

How do I pay?

Your booking won’t be considered confirmed until your payment.

You will have 72 hours to submit your payment after we approve your booking request. We accept PayPal, Venmo, and payments in person via check or cash.

As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, all payments is considered to be a donation to the Fairmount Community Library.

How do I cancel my booking?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel.

We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel. If you cancel within less than 48 hours from your original booking, we will apply a $30 cancellation fee. This helps us cover administrative costs and compensates for the time that could have been allocated differently. You won’t be able to make another booking with us unless you pay your cancellation fee. If you paid by check, we will subtract $5 processing fee.

We understand things change so please let us know if you need to cancel due to exceptional circumstances.

Are there any other fees?

Not if you follow the rules :)

Here is a complete list of potential additional fees:

  • Cancellation fee (if cancelled less than 48 hours in advance): $30

  • Processing fee for refunding check payments: $5

  • If you are found in violation of the Rental Agreement:

    • Smoking/vaping cleaning fee: $250

    • Cleaning, trash and equipment removal fee (when applicable): $50

    • Pet cleaning fee (when allowing a non-service animal on premises): $50

We reserve the right to expel and ban anyone from library grounds if they are found in violation of city, county, state, and federal laws, including disorderly conduct or foul/offensive language.

Can I bring my dog/cat/other animal?

Service animals only, please! Unless otherwise agreed, please leave your pets at home or with a sitter.

Can I smoke/vape on the patio?

We are a smoke-and-tobacco free facility! That includes all all our premises and grounds. Violators will be asked to leave and the primary host may be charged with a $250 clean-up fee.

No other open flames (including candles) are allowed either.
